The French Conversation Group meets twice a month on the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 2.30pm in the Oak Room at the Community Centre.
Members help each other with developing the spoken language and take turns in deciding on the topic to be discussed.
Some previous knowledge of French is useful as we currently don't have a tutor. Meetings focus on the spoken language and can include a warm-up activity, language games/grammar, plus a pre-arranged discussion on a specific topic. We also use CD's from the language magazine "Bien Dire" to help with listening/speaking activities.
The cost of the room hire is shared between members and paid in advance, the cost works out at around £2 per person per session. Refreshments (tea/coffee) are available during the meeting for the small sum of £1.20 per person. Participants need to join u3a to attend regular meetings.
Please leave a message for the group organiser April Robinson if you are interested in joining by clicking on the icon near the top left of this page at the heading "Coordinator French Conversation" to send your message, this will generate a message form for your use.
Meetings/dates are currently organised for 2025: The next meeting is on October 9th and the following meetings are October23rd, November 13th and 27th, and the last meeting of this year will be on December 11th. We start again in 2026. Information is circulated to members via email.
