Lyndhurst & District

Welcome to Lyndhurst u3a

u3a is an international movement whose motto is 'Learn Live Laugh'. We are a like minded bunch of people who get together to learn and or have a good time involved in social activities. It's popularity has grown so that last year in this country there were 1035 branches catering for 400,000 members

So how does it work? You pay your £25 for a single member entitles you to attend the monthly meeting and join any of the groups (for which there may be an additional charge).

Monthly meetings

The monthly meeting takes the form of a brief business section rather like handing out notices in church. Then the talk on an amazing variety of subjects followed by tea and cake. This social side of things often goes on for longer than the talk did.

April’s meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th at 2.30pm in thee Lyndhurst Community Centre

Following Matt Phillips excellent talk about active conservation on the Beaulieu Estate, our next meeting includes our annual general meeting, which promises to be brief, succinct and hopefully unexciting.

The agenda will cover the election/re-election of the committee members, approval of the accounts for the year to the 31st March 2026 and of course Any Other Business.

After this there will be a short talk with photos by Janice Pettigrew on “My Holiday with Elephants”.

This will be followed by refreshments. In addition to the usual offering of tea and cake, there will be wine and cheese offered, but only for those who have indicated they would like to partake by the 18th March.  There will be a small charge of £5 which can be paid at the meeting, in cash.

If there is insufficient interest to make the “wine and cheese “event economically viable, it will be cancelled. Please sign up by letting Evelyn know at chair.lyndhurstu3a@btinterent.com
